Maturity is God's plan for all followers.

8 Characteristics of a Maturing Follower...

1. Being Real

• • Colossians 1:19-23
  • We must have and live in the assurance that God has given us through faith in Jesus.
  • John 10:27
  • If we don't hear and follow Jesus, we are not one of His flock... When we hear and follow, we are His and we will become mature!

2. Living Real

• • Jeremiah 29:11
  • God's plan for us is Real!
  • John 10:10
  • Real living is rich and satisfying!
  • Matthew 10:39
  • Real living is total surrender which matures us!

3. Real Guts

• • Romans 8:11
  • Living like the temple of the Holy Spirit makes us Real!
  • Colossians 3:11
  • Who we think we were born as, is of no eternal value... The only thing that matters for eternity is who we've been Reborn as, and who lives within us!

4. Real Communication

• • Matthew 21:13
  • Prayer is more than conversation; it should be who we are!
  • Matthew 7:7
  • Prayer is being persistent until the door opens...or not!
  • Matthew 26:41
  • A Real prayer life strengthens us which leads to maturity!

5. Real Direction

• • Luke 5:1
  • God's Word should draw our attention!

  • God's Word is Alive and will cut away the infection from our lives if we allow it too!

  • God's Word practiced in our lives will guide us with truth and mature us to perfection!

6. Real Surrender

  • Real surrender to God's direction and discipline glorifies Him!

  • Real surrender is doing what Jesus would do!

  • Real surrender will give us strength to resist Satan... When we resist Satan, we mature!

7. Sharing Reality

  • A Real witness is when we simply share who already lives in us!

  • What is there about God that we don't want to share?
  • Sharing how Real God is In us is a fight, but we are equipped to do it!
  • When we share the reality of God we mature!

8. Real Generosity

  • Real generosity starts when we give up our lives!
  • Luke 6:38
  • Real giving is an investment that earns more than we can count!
  • 2 Corinthians 8:9
  • Real generosity is becoming poor so that we can make others rich!
  • 2 Corinthians 9:6
  • Real generosity gains more than we can possibly give!
  • Real generosity matures us because it fulfills the example of Jesus!
