A Grandiose Misunderstanding...

Written by Dan Esau. Posted in Pastor's Blog

Sometimes I wonder why we struggle so much in this life. Do you? I thought when I was growing up, that when you became an adult, life would progressively get better and easier. Did you? I think all of this misconception is really a huge misunderstanding. You see, Jesus, in His ministry on earth, told us that life was, is and would be hard. In fact, He promised that it would be and that we needed a relationship with our Heavenly Father to make it through this life. Well, I have known that most of my life and even though I surrendered my life as a nine year old kid, I really thought that would take away or at least relieve some of the hard stuff in life.

Rate Your Accommodations

Written by Dan Esau. Posted in Pastor's Blog

When I take a trip and stay in a hotel, I want to stay where the accommodations are good. I would bet you are the same. Most people do not look on purpose for some yucky hotel that might have bed bugs or is visibly dirty or has nothing to help your stay be more enjoyable. What about your accommodations? You know you have someone living with you all the time? What's it like living in you? Would you choose to live in you if that were possible?

mmmmmmmm, Fruity!!

Written by Dan Esau. Posted in Pastor's Blog

I just love fruit! More than that, I love sharing fruit with my grandbabies! Have you ever noticed that fruit, like an onion, has different layers? First, there's the peeling. Then sometimes, as in my favorite—the orange—there is a membrane, then you get to the fruit. I was thinking, as I prepared for last week's message, that we are a lot like that—layered. Have you ever thought about it? We are much more complex than we want to admit.

Hoarders!

Written by Dan Esau. Posted in Pastor's Blog

Have you ever watched the TV show about people that are hoarders? I have experienced people in my life that I knew were hoarders, but never to the extent that I've seen on that show. By the way, I have only seen it a few times as it is far too difficult to watch. Anyway, I never knew that there were harders of all types of different things in this life. When I saw the show about animal hoarders, I thought I had seen it all!

What about you and me? Could we be recognized as a hoarder in our lives? If so, what is it that we hoard or store away or what ever way that you choose to put it? I believe with all my heart that there are things in our lives that could be recognized as hoarding if we asked someone to look for it. I, for one, am not in favor of that but I have to tell you that I think that we ALL are guilty of hoarding in one way or another.

What’s Harder??

Written by Dan Esau. Posted in Pastor's Blog

Patti and I went to a marriage enrichment conference a couple of weeks ago and learned a lot. I know some of you are saying, "When you've been married as long as they have, what could you learn?" Let me tell you... There is always plenty to learn about each other and a lifetime is never long enough. When we were attending, the leader was teaching about some specific things about scripture and I had an epiphany (God spoke to me about something). First, I want to show you some scripture that shows specifically what I am talking about.
